As General Counsel, Emilie Mathieu oversees legal, policy, and regulatory affairs, as well as enterprise risk management. Emilie joined Checkout.com in 2022 as VP and Deputy General Counsel to lead the Product, Data, and Financial Regulatory legal teams.
Before joining Checkout.com, she built her career in payments legal at Amazon and eBay, delivering payments experiences to delight customers and launching new payments licenses and businesses in countries around the world. Emilie received her undergraduate degree from Williams College in History and Art History, cum laude, and her law degree from the University of Michigan Law School.
She was awarded the German Chancellor Fellowship by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation from 2010 - 2011. When not at work, Emilie enjoys wild swimming year-round and can be found in London’s Hampstead Heath Ponds or West Reservoir.
