Visa response codes

Visa divides its response codes into categories to inform you if and when to retry transactions.
This category of decline codes indicates that there is no circumstance in which the issuer will approve the transaction.
Recommended action: Do not retry. This corresponds to recommendation code 03.

This category of decline codes indicates that the issuer may approve the transaction, but cannot do so at that time.
Recommended action: Try again later. This corresponds to recommendation code 02.

This category of codes indicates the issuer cannot approve the transaction with the details provided.
Recommended action: Provide updated or additional information. This corresponds to recommendation code 01.
