AVS codes

Address Verification Service (AVS) is a fraud prevention tool used to verify that the customer performing a payment is genuine.
It does this by performing an AVS check, which compares the billing address provided by the customer during checkout with the address associated with the payment card.
You receive the result of AVS checks as AVS codes. AVS codes describe whether there was a full or partial match, or a mismatch.
The following table outlines the AVS codes used by Checkout.com and their definitions.

| Visa | The issuing bank is international so the address and ZIP code could not be verified. |
| Visa | The address could not be verified. |
| Visa | Full match. The street addresses and postal codes match (international only). |
| American Express, Mastercard, Visa | No match. The street address and ZIP code provided by the customer do not match what the bank has on file. |
| American Express | The address could not be verified. |
| Visa | Partial match. The ZIP codes match, but the street address could not be verified, likely due to an incorrect format. |
| American Express, Mastercard, Visa | Service unavailable. Retry the AVS check. |

| Mastercard | Partial match. The postal codes match, but the addresses do not. |
