Manage your balances
Your funds are tracked across the following balances of your currency account:
- Pending: the total incoming funds that will be added to the Available balance once cleared
- Available: the funds that are available for processing
- Payable: the funds reserved from the Available balance for outgoing transactions that are yet to clear
- Collateral: the funds held by Checkout.com to cover potential liabilities and risk events associated with your payment processing
- Operational Funding: the funds held for processing Payouts and Issuing payments when the Available balance is insufficient
The Pending balance is the total sum of incoming funds which are yet to be cleared, minus any refunds, chargebacks, and fees. Once cleared, these funds will be moved into your Available balance.
Funds will clear from the Pending balance to the Available balance after a fixed delay.
The Available balance is the sum of funds that can be used for outgoing transactions. For example, for payouts, transfers, or issuing card debits or settlements to your bank account.
This balance changes regularly as funds from the Pending balance are cleared.
The Payable balance includes funds reserved from the Available balance for outgoing transactions.
This includes funds used for in-transit payouts, client settlements, and issuing payments that are yet to be cleared. When these transactions are cleared, they will be deducted from the Payable balance.
The Collateral balance is the sum of funds withheld by Checkout.com to cover potential liabilities and unplanned risk events associated with your payment processing. This includes funds reserved for fraud, chargebacks, refunds, or business close.
These reserve funds are reserved on a fixed and/or rolling basis, depending on your account configuration.
The funds held in the Operational Funding balance serve as a backup to cover Payouts and Issuing payments when there are not enough funds in your Available balance.
Holding an Operational Funding balance ensures outbound payments are not declined and allows you to continue to process them, up to the amount held in the Operational Funding balance.

You can view the funds that you hold with Checkout.com from the Funds > Balances page on the Dashboard.
Use the following steps to top up your currency accounts. Remember to check the currency and public holidays to ensure that funds are with Checkout.com ahead of time.
- Navigate to the Funds > Balances page on the Dashboard. Select Top up an account.
- Select the currency account you want to top up from the dropdown menu.
- Choose Available funds and select Continue.
- In the Transfer type page, choose Local transfer or International transfer and select Continue.
Your selection determines which bank details will be shared with you in the next step. - Make a transfer from your bank account using Checkout.com bank details and payment reference available in the Top-up details screen.
Ensure that you add the reference with its prefix to the payment you make from your bank, and avoid using any special characters. This prevents delays in funds being made available on your account. - Select Done. Refresh your page to view the updated balance.
If you’re sending currencies outside of their domestic region, payments from your bank may take longer to clear.
Information
The netting process from payins, payouts, and receiving settlements for accrued balances may adjust your currency balance. If this happens, any general account top-ups will be repaid in your next settlement.
All top up actions will be reflected in your Financial Actions Report.
If you have any other requirements, contact your Account Manager or [email protected].
